Frequently asked questions

Is ClearSnip free to use?

Yes. Patients do not pay to use ClearSnip and do not need an account.

Where do the prices come from?

Each price comes from a public page published by the clinic. Every row links to the page we read and shows the date we checked it.

How current are the prices?

Each row shows its own check date. Clinics change their prices, so confirm the current total with the clinic before you book.

Can a clinic pay to rank higher?

No. Tables are sorted by price, lowest first, and no clinic pays to be listed or to change its position.

What does Not stated mean?

The clinic page we read does not say whether that item, such as sedation or a semen test, is in the price. Ask the clinic.

How many vasectomies are done in the United States each year?

About 500,000, according to the American Medical Association.

How long does a vasectomy take?

Dr. Jason Jameson told the AMA that the procedure usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes.

Does a vasectomy work right away?

No. The AMA quotes Dr. Amarnath Rambhatla saying a semen analysis is checked about three months after the procedure, and some men take up to six months to clear sperm. Use other birth control until a test confirms no sperm.

Does insurance cover a vasectomy?

Often. Dr. Jameson told the AMA that most private insurers cover some or all of the cost. Ask your insurer what you would owe and compare it with a clinic self-pay price.

Have vasectomy rates changed since the Dobbs decision?

Among young adults, yes. A study in JAMA Health Forum published in April 2024 used medical record data and found that, among male patients aged 18 to 30, the June 2022 Dobbs decision was followed by an immediate rise of 26.99 vasectomies per 100,000 person-months.

I run a clinic. How do I get listed or fix a price?

Listing is free for any clinic that publishes a self-pay price. Send us the page that shows the current price. Send corrections at inquiries@clearsnip.com.

Is this medical advice?
